At around 6:50 a.m., the fire department was alerted by the automatic fire alarm. Upon arrival, the fire was quickly escalated to a ‘medium-sized fire’. This meant that both fire engines from the Delft and Den Hoorn fire stations were deployed to fight the fire.

Board member Denise Beijer of the association was the first on the scene. She reports that the fire was brought under control fairly quickly. “We are all very shocked. Fortunately, no one was in the building, and the fire was confined to one room.” In addition to the burned toilet, there is some smoke damage in the rest of the building. Beijer says she is now waiting for the insurance claim to be settled. “The possible consequences for the drinks and events we hold here are not yet known.”
