For Stip, a vibrant Delft is one its five key points. It promotes the creation of a venue for music performances in the city and the holding of more events in general. It would also preserve the character of the OWee (introduction week) and the fraternities.
Like the VVD, it would give businesses the freedom to decide their own opening times, which would most likely lead to longer opening times for both shops and bars.
Stip would also allow supermarkets to stay open until 22:00 on Sundays. This is in contrast to the ChristenUnie that promotes Sunday as a day of rest as much as possible, limiting ‘shopping Sundays’ and the supplying of stores on Sundays.
Most parties, including D66, GroenLinks and Stadsbelangen Delft, want Delft to host more events such as festivals. CDA would attract mostly cultural events and spread them over the whole city instead of concentrating them in the city centre. It would also enforce safety measures and noise disturbance.
Both Stip and SP feel that there are not enough places to go out in Delft, and SP believes in cooperation with entrepreneurs to change this. Stadsbelangen Delft says that Delft should organise more national and international events, not in the least to promote tourism. Onafhankelijk Delft does not talk about more events, but it would build a casino in the city.
