Council questions about student welfare

The political parties Stip and GroenLinks have submitted questions in writing to the Municipal Executive of Delft about student welfare. In doing so, these parties represented in the Municipality are giving “greater political weight” to the issue, says Stip party leader Marnix Weiler.

In response to verbal questions posed by Stip in January 2019, Councillor Karin Schrederhof said that the “support circuit … actually works quite well”, but that students with psychological problems sometimes end up in the right place too late. She agreed to look into ‘the communications circuit’.

Stip and GroenLinks now want more information on the solutions that the Municipality has come up with to improve student well-being and care. They also question how the ‘current cooperation between TU Delft, the student associations, GGZ (Dutch Association of Mental Health and Addiction Care) institutions, general physicians and the Municipality’ safeguard students with psychological problems remaining ‘in the picture’. The Municipality has thirty days in which to answer the questions.
