The TU Executive Board wants to terminate fifteen TU research programs in the coming three years. Other programs, moreover, will be scaled down. As a result of this purge, more than one hundred researchers % belonging to research groups that aren’t performing well enough or are doing research that’s also being done elsewhere % must look for new jobs either inside or outside the TU.
Counting publications is becoming less important. The Executive Board also wants research plans to be judged. “We’re changing our research portfolio with a small jump, but we don’t want to make unrest a new policy course,” says Van Luijk.
Colleagues who don’t work at the same faculty must create a research programme together, thus preventing double work.Aerospace Engineering (L&R)and Geoscience must bundle their satellite research and hand in their dean.
