Cafe Huszár offers study places

The new academic year is about to begin, but studying on campus is still limited due to the amount of available study places. For the time being, students will be condemned to their room or studio.

For those who do want to get out, Huszár is the place to be. The cafe at the Hooikade offers quiet places to work or study every working day from 9:00 until 12:00. For €4.50 you have a coronaproof table with electricity and wifi, a cup of coffee or tea with a homemade brownie or baklava and unlimited water.

When owners Marieke and Pascal ter Laak came up with the concept, they didn’t expect it to take off immediately. “But it soon became so popular that our wifi gave out, which of course wasn’t set to handle so much traffic”, Marieke says. “Then we immediately hired a professional and now we have super-fast wifi.

The two of them enjoy the vibrancy that students bring. Marieke: “Especially for Pascal. He studied at TU Delft and regularly checks in with the students. Personally, I really like the hustle and bustle. Normally we never see students here, but now it’s buzzing.

Work and study places are available on weekdays from 9 am until 12 pm. Reservation is required.
