Bug in digital R&D form

TU employees are advised to wait before filling in their Results & Development form. There is a bug in the standard digital programme.

As of this year, managers and employees should fill in their R&D form digitally instead of in a Word document. The procedure is the same as before. That is, employees:

  • write down their results from the previous period;
  • reflect on them;
  • send the form to their assessor;
  • meet with their manager; and
  • then get their evaluation.

The former Word document should have been converted to a digital version but, according to the Works Council, that wasn’t the case. “It is more than just a matter of conversion. The form does not have a box to record the results of the previous period,” said member of the Works Council, Menno Blaauw, on Thursday March 22 at a meeting with the Executive Board. “There is only a ‘reflection’ box and as soon as you type in one letter, the system asks you to evaluate yourself. It should be the manager who does the evaluation. “

Director of Human Resources, Ingrid Halewijn, replied that the intention was not to adapt the form. However, a supplier with standardised programmes was chosen. “Customized is an expensive option,” Halewijn said. “We had to be part of the supplier’s standard package.” Lumesse in this case.

According to Halewijn, the bug lies in the self-reflection question. “‘Not applicable’ was dropped and is being reset.” The Works Council urged that this be done quickly as employees are already working on their R&D forms.

Halewijn expects clarity within a week. She believes that up to now, about five percent of the employees have used the digital system and she wants to avoid data from being lost with a new version. “We do not want anyone to have to fill in the form again.”
