Beijing closes universities against corona

Now that higher education in the Netherlands is allowed to open its doors again and the lockdown is being eased, the Chinese capital Beijing is closing schools and universities after a new outbreak of the virus. Education goes back online, travel is only allowed in emergencies and without a coronation test no one is allowed in or out of the city. Schools and universities have only just opened. Gyms and theatres are also closed. Libraries and museums should limit the number of visitors. In Dutch higher education, full lecture halls are taboo for the time being and, if all goes well, students hardly travel by public transport during rush hour. But the hope is that timetables can be broadened with smart scheduling. (HOP)
