Accreditation of Twente master’s programme under review

The Education Inspectorate has doubts about the diplomas of a master’s programme in Twente: were they rightly granted?

The part-time master’s programme ‘public management’ at the University of Twente is already warning its students and graduates: invalid master’s degrees might have been issued. The Education Inspectorate will soon issue a report.

Some 60 graduates and 40 students are affected, reports news site U-Today (in Dutch). The programme lasts thirty months and costs 35 thousand euros, including travel and accommodation costs for seminars and study trips.

Inspection

Quality would not be an issue, the university assures. The programme has the stamp of approval of an international quality inspector for administrative studies, the EAPAA.

But the inspectorate is presumably not satisfied with that. In the Netherlands, the programme must be approved by the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation (NVAO). Similar courses at other universities have dual approval: from both the EAPAA and the NVAO. (HOP, BB)
