18 ‘excellent’ masters programmes in the Netherlands

18 ‘excellent’ masters programmes in the Netherlands

Out of more than 1,200 master studies at universities of applied sciences and universities in the Netherlands, 18 are ‘excellent’ in the eyes of students, reports a choice guide. They scored maximum on all components: content, teachers, assessment, atmosphere and preparation for career. This list of 18 does not include master’s programmes at TU Delft.

Unlike for bachelor’s programmes, no figures are available for masters programmes on drop-out rates and study pace. The judgements are based solely on (processed) scores from the National Student Survey conducted in spring 2022. Therefore, the Keuzegids Masters (in Dutch) does not venture into institution rankings.

Until 2020, it still included them. Back then, the editors could still use the judgments of review committees with which education inspector NVAO accredits programmes. But nowadays, these assessments are no longer differentiated. ‘Good’ and ‘excellent’ no longer exist, following criticism from the Lower House and NVAO itself. Like an apk inspection, the judgement is now either sufficient or insufficient. (HOP/HC)

Excellent masters at universities and at universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands.
