And outside the lecture hall, he regularly takes a critical stance on the university’s sustainability policy in his Delta columns,’ the jury concluded.
Nominations
The new award was presented on this year’s Sustainability Day, an initiative of GreenTU, student council party Lijst Bèta and network Studenten voor Morgen. “A teacher is important in educating and inspiring students, especially with a view to a sustainable future. On this day, we wanted to put them in the spotlight,” says GreenTU president Marie-Anne de Gier.
GreenTU chose the winner from a long list of nominees put forward by student associations. Apart from winner Van Vliet, nominations included David Vermaas (Applied Sciences), Miren Vizcaino (Civil Engineering & Geosciences), Irene Dedoussi (Aerospace Engineering), Kristel Aalbers (Architecture and the Built Environment), Arie van Deurssen (Electrical Engineering, Mathematics & Computer Science), Lise Magnier (Industrial Design Engineering) and Fatima Delgado Medina (Technology, Policy and Management).
