Radboud University rector steps down with immediate effect
Rector Han van Krieken of Radboud University is stepping down early, the university announces in a press release. It was recently revealed that he was found guilty of sexually transgressive behaviour in the past. Van Krieken had planned to leave on 17 October, when Radboud is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Last weekend, De Gelderlander newspaper reported that Van Krieken had made comments to a staff member in 2017 that could be perceived as sexually harassing, according to an external committee. After a complaint from the woman in question was upheld, the rector was given a warning. The university kept the incident quiet. Six years later through newspapers, the news came out anyway.
Van Krieken is also relinquishing the interim chairmanship of university association UNL for the same reason. The latter has been searching for a new president since the departure of Pieter Duisenberg. (HOP, HC)
