‘Reclaim control of your research’. This call appears above an invitation to the event ‘European Cloud Providers for Research’, where Delft scientists can meet European cloud providers. The event will take place on Thursday in the Echo education building.
During the meeting, cloud providers will give presentations about their services and scientists will have the opportunity to ask questions. SURF, the ICT organisation for higher education institutions, will also explain how it collaborates with its European counterparts.
Digital autonomy
According to experts from the Rathenau Institute and other organisations, alternatives to big tech companies’ clouds are indispensable for those striving for greater digital autonomy.
Co-organiser and TU ICT employee Magno Barreto de Araujo: ‘Many scientists I speak to are only familiar with American clouds, while they can also choose from eight European clouds via TU Delft. With this meeting, we want to make it easier for them to use European cloud providers for their research,’ he says.
- The meeting will take place on Thursday 25 September in the Echo teaching building (Echo Hall B1, 29.01.100) and will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is mandatory. More information can be found here.
