Employees in petition: do not start lawsuit against Inspectorate

A group of TU Delft employees is calling on the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board in a petition not to file a lawsuit against the Inspectorate of Education.

The employees are ‘disappointed and dissatisfied’ with the response of the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board to the Inspectorate of Education’s report. The latter found that TU Delft has been neglecting the care of its employees and there is therefore mismanagement. In response, the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board questioned the Inspectorate’s investigation method and even announced their intention to go to court.

According to the employees, this course of action ‘suggests that protecting management is more important than protecting the affected individuals’. They even note that ‘the response of TU Delft is in line with the report’s conclusion of a neglecting attitude towards ensuring social safety’. They therefore ‘feel unheard and demand a different course of action’. The employees are asking (former) students and staff to sign their petition and share it with others.

Demands

The employees demand from the Executive Board and the Supervisory Board:

  1. ‘To not (wrongfully) speak on our behalf, as we do not believe the report contributes insufficiently to the conversation about social safety, but instead sheds light on the repeated mismanagement by those in leadership positions’;
  2. ‘To not submit the report to court, but to invest its time, effort, and money towards concrete plans of action to improve social safety at the university’;
  3. ‘To implement the necessary changes within the boards at the university and faculty level’;
  4. ‘To release a clear and public policy on consequences when the TU Delft’s code of conduct is not adhered to’.

The petition has been online since Tuesday afternoon, 5 March, and has been signed by 196 people at the time of publication of this translated article.
