Wasub vestigt nieuw record

Wasub, de mens aangedreven onderzeeër van Delftse studenten, heeft een nieuw record gevestigd op het European International Submarine Races. De Wasub legde het 170 meter lange parcours af in 78,3 seconden, zes seconden sneller dan twee jaar geleden.

Het parcours dat piloot Bram Bronswijk moest afleggen, was uitgezet in het enorme marine bassin in het Engelse Gosport. Na een sprint rechtdoor, volgden een U-bocht en een slalom; allemaal op vijf meter diepte. De Wasub bestaat uit carbon, een zeer sterk en licht materiaal. Bronswijk moest in de onderzeeër zijn duikuitrusting aan, omdat de duikboot is gevuld met water.
