After several weeks of steady progress we decided it was time for some time off. As Brazil is famous for its nature and natural wonders, we could not forgive ourselves if we did not visit Brazil’s most famous landmark, the Iguazu falls.
But before we allowed ourselves to leave, there was still some work to be done for our project. After getting the computer model to run, propose our solutions and turn in our second concept report, we were able to drop everything, pack our bags and leave.
After a transfer in Porto Alegre to the plane we just got off, the flight became a bit bumpy. Some turbulence halfway got to one of the gringos, turning his face a bit pale. Fortunately for us the puking only occurred three rows in front of us, and the remaining half hour plane ride smelled just great.
The Iguazu falls is truly a site to visit at least once in a lifetime. As the border separates the falls, there is a Brazilian and an Argentinian side. Both sides are spectacular, but Argentina definitely got a better deal where the border is concerned. Kilometres of walkways crossing cliffs and several smaller and larger falls, there are simply not enough words to describe the beauty and sheer size of the falls.
Of course we had to get wet, and so we decided to take a boating trip that sails into the falls. Although we got out of the boat, soaking wet, we recommend it to everyone who reads this blog. Our advice: bring some dry underwear or your swimming shorts, and go with (against) the flow.
