With everyone mastering the skills of salsa and speaking fluent Spanish since last week, we were now ready for the next step in our integration process in the Colombian culture. It was time for us to encounter the exciting world of Colombian politics.
These water depth measurements will give us an insight into the problems the port of Imbituba is facing with sedimentation. One could say our first working week has been a real test on our memory banks and on our sanity levels.
We were lucky enough to be invited to the Holland-Colombia water conference. The conference, which was visited by many Dutch coastal companies and the minister of Infrastructure and Environment, Melanie Schultz van Haegen, was largely about discussing the collaboration capabilities between the Dutch and Colombian public and private sector on the area of coastal protection.
