Forze IX drives first meters

TU Delft student team Forze’s hydrogen racing car has driven its first metres on the Zandvoort circuit.

The students presented their Forze IX in January 2022 and continued working on their new car at the Kabelfabriek along Schieweg over the past year.

By building it, the students aim to demonstrate that hydrogen can play an important role in the energy transition. The car is powered by two tanks of hydrogen and a super battery.

Hydrogen must be converted into electricity in the car. Water vapour is then the only emission. The students are not that far yet. The Forze IX drove its first lap on a charged battery. The students developed the battery and the hydrogen system at the same time, but the latter is not yet in the car. That is the next step.

With predecessor Forze VIII, the team once came second in the Supercar Challenge (in Dutch) at the TT Circuit in Assen. With the Forze IX, they hope to better that performance.
