TU Delft unions organise action meeting against higher education cutbacks

On Thursday, March 20, an action meeting against the cuts in higher education will take place at TU Delft. The meeting, organised by unions FNV, AOb, and VSSD (for students) is intended for TU staff, but other parties are welcome to join as well. Those interested can register on the website. The aim is for those present to decide together how they want to take action and whether a strike will follow.

Local unions at other universities are organising similar meetings. They are working toward a relay strike, with employees at several universities laying off work. Leiden University will kick off on March 11. The reason for the actions are the drastic cuts in higher education. Universities fear that these will seriously affect the quality of education and research.

The action meeting will take place on Thursday, March 20, from 16:30 to 17:30 in the Pulse building. Staff are encouraged to attend and bring colleagues. “Only with a large turnout can we take the next step towards an impactful strike or action,” say the organisers.
