No international office

In the new reorganisation plans, the international office will not exist.Jan Oele, the TU executive board%s vice president of support, has announced plans to reorganise the TU cluster that is concerned with TU staff, management and service centres.

Seven million guilders must be saved, which means thirty jobs and the International Office must be axed.

Annemarie Rima, head of the never officially founded International Office, actually thinks the new set-up will benefit students. In her opinion, they’ll be able to obtain all the necessary information at one counter: that of the student service centre. However, she says: ”I don’t know if this is a preferable development for employees. To them it will be unclear where to turn for visa and housing problems.”

The executive board has decided to reorganise this TU cluster because of central service’s growth and vague structure. Many people had complained that the ‘left-hand didn’t know what the right-hand was doing’. The plans will be discussed in a meeting with the works council on June 6. If the council agrees, the board wants to start ‘finding or not finding positions’ for employees in January.
