Career day for you and SME

SME Recruitment Day is the good opportunity to explore your career options in the Netherlands. Representatives from small and medium-sized companies will be on campus looking to recruit international and Dutch students.

So you’ve been living in Holland for a while, studying at TU Delft. Maybe you’ve started to love the gray skies, the ‘chocoladehagel’ on your bread and the direct way the Dutch have of communicating. So now you’re thinking you might want to stay in the Netherlands after you graduate. But here comes the tricky part: how do you go about finding a job in the Netherlands?

A great place to start is at the SME Recruitment Day held on Thursday, November 6 in the Aula. SMEs – small and medium-sized enterprises – have a lot to offer TU Delft engineers. More than 30 Dutch SMEs will be present: at their information stands, company reps will be waiting to tell you all about the job positions, internships or graduation project placements they have available.
The SME business sector in the Netherlands – i.e. companies that have a maximum of 250 employees – offers surprisingly good career opportunities for prospective engineers. The SME day is being co-hosted by the Royal Institute of Engineers in the Netherlands (Kivi Niria) and TU Delft. This is a unique opportunity for you to perhaps meet your future employer in the small and medium-sized business sector.

This SME event will also feature general presentations on the differences between working for large (multinational) companies and smaller enterprises, as well as a range of workshops. One such workshop especially for international students will be hosted by Tempo-Team Global Recruitment Services, which has developed a program package especially for foreign graduates in the Netherlands.
The Tempo-Team workshop focuses on providing accurate information about the job-hunting process in the Netherlands, offering useful tips, practical information and insights into how young professionals should successfully apply for jobs. The workshop will also offer real-life examples of cultural management differences, work habits, application procedures and national differences in CV writing. Internationals students are invited to bring their CVs along: Tempo-team will then conduct a CV-check to see if your CV adheres to Dutch professional standards.

The SME recruitment day program starts with a welcome speech by Jan Dekker, President of KIVI NIRIA and chairman of Syntens. Then, running concurrently throughout the day are: a recruitment fair for small and medium-sized businesses; business sector presentations, workshops and company presentations, all of which ends with informal drinks and networking opportunities from 16:30 to 17:30.

Entry to the SME Recruitment Day – including lunch and drinks – is free for TU students. However, you must register in advance at www.mkbdagdelft.nl. The website also offers more information about the program, workshops and SMEs that will be present. SME Recruitment Day, November 6, 10:30 to 17:30, Aula TU Delft, Mekelweg 5.
