Young Business AwardIndustrial designers Thomas van den Groenendaal and Yoeri Nagtegaal won the Young Business Award for their design of an airco-bed that is energy-saving and also lightweight.

Their company, Evening Breeze, beat out three other finalists to collect the 10,000 euro award for the most successful, technologically innovative business imitative. In December, Evening Breeze also won the TUI Award for the best thesis on sustainable tourism. The winning airco-bed is on exhibit at the Technology Museum Delft until March 1.
XS4All professor

Dutch Internet provider XS4All has established a professorial chair at TU Delft for a period of three years. The research associated with this chair will focus on safety and privacy for Internet users, with a special focus on mobile Internet. The first professor to fill this position will be Milton Mueller of the iSchool (School of Information Studies) at Syracuse University (New York).
Robbed

In the last months of 2007 the Sebastiaansbrug student complex was robbed repeatedly, and many residents have since move out. In late November thieves stole a flat screen. A day later a four-room apartment was robbed. A week after that another four-room apartment was robbed. And finally in mid-December two other apartments were robbed. Laptops, cameras, cell phones, webcams and watches were among the items stolen. The residents of the apartments were foreign PHD students and mostly uninsured for the lost items.
